Musicivic, Inc. is pleased to announce our most recent Musicivic Community project. Oakmont Musicivic will implement the Musicivic community model in Oakmont, PA and its surrounding communities beginning with the 2021 Winter Season of Musicast programming.

Free Tickets for Live and Online Events

Oakmont Musicivic live and online programming is free to all. Starting in January (2021) Oakmont Musicivic will deliver a new online Musicast episode every week with “live chat” hosted premieres every Sunday (3:00 PM), Wednesday (7:30 PM), and Friday (7:30 PM). Our free tickets provide a link that is good for the timed event and on demand for the following week, so Musicast programming can be accessed by our community members at any time and from anywhere. Membership

Oakmont Musicivic community membership is free. All of a members donations are accumulated to award “levels” with increased benefits including early access to live event registration, merchandise discounts, access to Musicast On Demand programming, and recognition.

Levels are unlocked at $9, $15, $30 and $75 cumulative donations per season or $36, $60, $120 and $300 per year.

Sponsorship

We have special programs to partner with Civic, Community and Main Street organizations. Our partnership models focuses on co-branding opportunities that build community identity, cultural vitality, and unique experiences for Oakmont and its surrounding communities and the individuals and families that live in and visit them. Michael DiBarry named Director

Michael DiBarry of Pittsburgh has been named the director of Oakmont Musicivic.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michael earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in violin performance at Arizona State University (ASU). He completed his Bachelor of Music at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and obtained a Master of Music from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. A violist and composer as well, Michael is equally engaged as a chamber musician and educator of performance and music theory. Since being in residence with the Herberger String Quartet (2017-2019), he appeared as a guest artist at Fullerton College, received the Joan Frazer Memorial Award for Judaism and the Arts for his Yiddish song cycle, composed Five Stages of Grief for solo violin, and pioneered microtonal violin pedagogy through his doctoral research that bridges the a gap between Western and Middle Eastern ear training. 

With a passion for education, Michael has been teaching private lessons for over ten years, working with students of all ages in violin, viola, chamber music, music theory, and ear training. He incorporates core Suzuki principles into a Galamian school of technique while employing diverse repertoire. 

His principal teachers include Katie McLin, Steven Shipps, Marcelle Mallette and Thomas Williams. He is an alumnus of the Chautauqua Music School Festival Orchestra and Domaine Forget Chamber Music Festival, and he has been a guest with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, the West Virginia Symphony, the Arizona Bach Festival, and the Arizona Philharmonic. He was a finalist of the ASU Concerto Competition as well as frequent concertmaster and principal second of the university orchestra. He has performed in masterclasses for Jorja Fleezanis, Paul Kantor, Stefan Jackiw, and Andres Cardenas, among others. In addition to classical performance, Michael completed minors in Music Theory and Italian Studies at McGill and speaks French.
